TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) official Eva Kusuma Sundari said that her party has many unexpected cadres, like Joko Widodo or Jokowi, to run in 2024 presidential election.
“It’s possible to introduce the next Jokowi,” said Eva when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3.
The next Jokowi, she explained, means a party cadre that is not a party chair, not House members, and not from a political dynasty of the party. “But longing by the people,” she added.
The presence of such a figure would become an anticipated presidential candidate, similar to when the party proposed Jokowi in the 2014 election.
On Tuesday, July 2, a pollster LSI Denny JA announced its prediction list of names to be a potential presidential candidate in the 2024 election. “It’s still a long time to go, but we have predicted potential candidates for the next five years,” said the agency researcher Rully Akbar.
They are Prabowo Subianto, Airlangga Hartarto, Muhaimin Iskandar, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Puan Maharani, Sandiaga Uno, Ridwan Kamil, Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Sri Mulyani, Budi Gunawan, Tito Karnavian, and Gatot Nurmantyo.
“The 14 people are screened in the radar, while the last person will possibly be the next Jokowi. A person who previously not in the radar, but suddenly appears,” Rully said.
Eva appreciated the pollster for listing her party’s cadres as potential presidential candidates, namely PDIP DPP chairwomen Puan Maharani and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
