  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) officially removed three prosecutors from structural positions that were arrested in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Three of them are suspected of committing a violation against the code of ethics.

AGO deemed this move important since it would ease the process of investigating the prosecutors and not disturb the office public service.

“They were removed from structural positions in Jakarta’s high court to make way for the investigation proceedings,” said Solicitor General in the field of Intelligence Jan Samuel Maringka in a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta today.

The three prosecutors in question are General Crime Assistant Agus Winoto, Prosecutor's High Prosecution Subsection Yadi Herdianto, and Head of state security and public order Yuniar Sinar Pamungkas.

The KPK admits they have yet found compelling evidence on the involvement of prosecutor Yadi and Yuniar in the West Jakarta District Court bribery. It is also why the investigation of both men are handed to the Attorney General’s Office.

Yadi and Yuniar were apprehended in one of KPK’s sting operation on Friday, June 28, and confiscated money from Yadi which its origins are still questioned. KPK also managed to confiscate SGD20,874 and USD700 from Yuniar.
