Garuda Indonesia CEO Leaves Sriwijaya Air Board of Commissioners

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia (IDX: GIAA) president director I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra, also known as Ari Askhara, resigned from his post as a chief commissioner at Sriwijaya Air. The move is Ari's way of showing commitment to implement good corporate governance.
"It is also to comply with principles of fair business competition," Garuda's corporate secretary M. Ikhsan Rosan wrote in a statement Tuesday, July 2.
On Monday, Ari was questioned by the KPPU for his leadership in both Garuda and Sriwijaya. According to the KPPU, the multiple positions is prone to violations and may cause a monopoly.
The KPPU the double-duties should not have happened since Garuda and Sriwijaya's cooperation was not a merge.
Garuda's commerce director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah and Citilink CEO had also resigned from their positions as commissioners at Sriwijaya Air.
