TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to open the automotive exhibition Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show or GIIAS 2019 on July 18, at ICE in BSD City, Tangerang. The 27th exhibition will be held until July 20.
"President Jokowi is scheduled to open the exhibition. As we all know that GIIAS is a window to automotive information for the people of Indonesia and the world," said Gaikindo chairman, Yohannes Nangoi in Jakarta, July 2.
Nangoi said that this year's GIIAS will be more special since it will show the independence of Indonesia's automotive industry.
"The Indonesian automotive is currently more independent; the production is already able to meet [the needs of] the foreign market," he added, hoping that the industry could enter a bigger era and become more global.
He said the independence of the Indonesian automotive industry could be seen from the capability of sending its products to dozens of countries.
"Indonesian-made car (product of CBU) has been exported to 80 countries. This will become something if the government supports the industry so the export will be bigger; not to forget the support from the producers," he remarked.
