TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Traffic Police has implemented the electronic traffic law enforcement system (ETLE). The system known as an e-ticketing will begin the use of new cameras at 10 locations as of today, July 1, 2019.
Comr. M. Nasir, head of Jakarta Police's Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate, said that 10 new cameras with additional features will be installed at 10 locations.
According to Nasir, the cameras with the new feature can record the activities inside a car, "such as the use of seat belts, the use of mobile phones by the driver, even odd number plates, and the speed limit," Nasir said on Sunday, June 30.
The old cameras, he said, can only record violations of signs, road markings, and traffic lights.
The locations for the new security cameras or CCTV for ETLE are mostly near pedestrians cross-walk bridges near MRT stations like Senayan and Semanggi Police Headquarters. As well as several government's offices.
The cameras for e-ticketing would also be placed on flyovers or elevated toll roads and traffic light crossings.
