Train Rams Car, Killing Seven in West Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Seven people were killed after the car in which they were travelling was rammed by a train at a level crossing in Jaya Mulya village, Indramayu district, West Java province.
Chief of the Indramayu Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yoris M.Y Marzuki confirmed the accident which claimed the lives of seven people.
"That's right, there is an accident that claimed seven victims," he said.
The Public Relations Manager of state railway company's operation region 3 in Cirebon, West Java, Kuswardojo, also confirmed it.
"It is true there has been traffic accident at a level crossing in which a car was rammed (by train)," said Kuswardojo.
There had been many accidents that involves trains ramming into cars or motorbikes at level crossings throughout Indonesia, primarily on high populated regions. Up until now, the government is still striving to reduce the number of such accidents.
