10,000 Forces to Secure Jokowi's Announcement as Election Winner

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The authorities have set 10,000 personnel to secure the official determination of Jokowi-Ma'ruf as election winner at elections commissions KPU office in Central Jakarta Sunday, June 30. The security team consists of the military (TNI) and Police personnel, as well as the Jakarta administration team.

    "[We have] set almost 10,000 personnel at KPU from TNI-Police and provincial government's health, firefighter, and transportation departments, as well as the public order enforcers (Satpol PP)," said Chief of Public Relation at Jakarta Metro Police Argo Yuwono today, June 29.

    He said that the guards will be spread in various spots in the capital with a total of 47,000 personnel. "The TNI-Police personnel are still posted at the Palace, Constitutional Court (MK), election supervisory board Bawaslu, KPU, and parliamentary complex, from yesterday's events."

    The authority has also set a traffic engineering which will be implemented based on the condition during the event.

    KPU will hold an open meeting on the official determination of the president-elect on June 30, at 15:30. The MK rejected all charges filed by plaintiffs Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno over the presidential elections result.

    Therefore, presidential and vice presidential candidate Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin will be announced as the Indonesian President and Vice President in the period of 2019-2024.
