Sophia Better than Vodka: NTT Deputy Governor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Deputy Governor Yoseph Nae Soi introduced the Sophia (original sopi) to the region’s business persons who have established businesses in Jakarta. Sophia is the local alcoholic beverage that was just introduced in mid-July 2019.
“Sophia can be introduced in households during Christmas and New Year celebrations,” said Deputy Governor Yoseph in the business meeting today.
Yoseph was confident enough to say Sophia was better than whisky and vodka. Nusa Tenggara’s Sophia contains 35-40 percent of alcohol.
“Sophia is greater than whisky and vodka,” he said enthusiastically.

The meeting is meant to further introduce Sophia to the market. NTT Governor Viktor Laskodat has expressed hopes of making the drink a high-quality export product.
The Sophia is a product of a partnership between the NTT provincial government and the University of Nusa Cendana that conducted multiple scientific tests prior to introducing it to the market.
Viktor said that Sophia will be a uniquely East Nusa Tenggara alcoholic beverage that is sold to the public legally.
