Earthquakes Hit Papua and North Maluku

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In less than half an hour after 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck North Maluku, a quake measuring 5.0 in Richter Scale also hit Papua in the early hours of today, June 28.
Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded the quake in Mamberamo, Papua centered in the land and had no potential of a tsunami.
The quake occurred at 03:45 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), 34 kilometers southeast of Central Mamberamo with a depth of 10 kilometers.
Earlier at 03:24, a 5.2 magnitude quake hit West Halmahera, North Maluku. The tremor did not trigger a tsunami despite its epicenter in the sea, 37 kilometers northwest of West Halmahera, at a depth of 142 kilometers under sea level.
