TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Constitutional Court (MK) judge Aswanto said that the team representing Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno was unable to prove their allegations against incumbent presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in the election dispute trial.
Jokowi's camp is accused by the opposition of forming a special police team tasked as "buzzers" for the incumbent's presidential campaign throughout the 2019 presidential election.
"The pieces of evidence they provided were only online news links and were not backed by supporting evidence to prove that such event indeed happened," said MK Judge Aswanto in the court trial on Thursday, June 27, 2019.
The panel of judges concluded that the allegations cannot be proven.
"Which is why the constitutional court agrees that the argument [pleaded by Prabowo's camp] is has no bases according to the law," said Aswanto.
This allegation was mentioned by Prabowo – Sandaiga's lawyer Denny Indrayana who stated that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) formed a "buzzer" team to support Jokowi's presidential election bid.
Denny's argument is based on information leaked by a twitter account under the name @Opposite6890 that uploaded videos that were given a new narrative suggesting that the police institution had formed a buzzer team that consists of 100 people from across Indonesia.
