TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police have run a detection on 30 terrorist groups that would allegedly infiltrate the mass action during the Constitutional Court’s (MK) ruling in Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 27.
“We have anticipated it by dispatching the special detachment (Densus) of the regional police. We have also anticipated the movement of terrorism networks such as JAD and individual terrorist,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo via a phone call Thursday, June 27.
The information about dozens of terrorist group was first conveyed by Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko.
“They have entered Jakarta. We have known them and saw them. So no need to worry,” said Moeldoko before media reporters in Bappenas office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 26.
Based on temporary data, Moeldoko said, 2,500-3,000 people would hit the street today. Hence, Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police dispatched 40,000 personnel to secure the verdict trial.
To anticipate any threat, more personnel were deployed up to 47,000 to stand guard around MK building. “Some 17,000 TNI personnel, and 28,000 police officers,” Dedi added.
According to him, the additional personnel was a form of assurance from the security officer to anticipate security disturbance ahead of and until the MK delivers its verdict on election dispute. Besides, the officers on duty in MK building were only armed with rubber bullets.
