TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla asserted that there were no political talks in his meeting with sixth president Susilo “SBY” Bambang Yudhoyono at his house in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, today on Wednesday, June 26.
“No, there were no political talks,” said VP Kalla after his meeting with SBY had ended.
He maintained that his visit was merely to tighten relations with SBY and to offer his condolences following the passing of the late Ani Yudhoyono earlier this month after battling with blood cancer.
However, Kalla talked about possible collaborations between himself and SBY, considering that he will end his tenure as vice president at the end of October this year.
“We intend to collaborate constantly on how to give inputs and suggestions for the government and society in general,” said the vice president who ran together with SBY in past administrations.
According to SBY, the collaboration mentioned by Jusuf Kalla is their collective attempt to contribute to the nation as elderly people. “As elderly people, it’s a perfect time for Pak Jusuf and me to communicate again. What we voice represents the people, the views of the elderly for the sake of the nation,” says SBY.
