TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of Papua's Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), William Manderi, said that there is no report on casualty following earthquakes in three Papua’s regencies, namely Sarmi, Central Mamberamo, and Mamberamo Raya during the past week.
“As of now, there is no report on casualties in the quakes,” said Manderi in Jayapura, Tuesday, June 25. However, he added, the three regions are still being checked.
Since Thursday, June 20 until Monday, June 24, Papua areas were struck by quakes that severely damaged people residencies and public facilities, including hospitals in Kasonaweja, Mamberamo Raya.
According to Manderi, regional administrations have handled the aftermath, especially Sarmi Regency, and Papua BBPD is ready to help them if necessary.
