TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter Scale (SR) has struck Banda Sea, 245 kilometers northwest of southwest Maluku Sea, Monday, June 24, at 09:53:39 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake has no potential to trigger a tsunami.
BMKG recorded the epicenter was at 6.51 degrees south latitude and 129.27 east longitude, at a depth of 231 kilometers.
The tremor was felt at V MMI level in Saumlaki, III-IV MMI level in Tual, III MMI level in Sorong, II-III MMI level in Kupang, Banda, Waingapu, Ambon, Nabire, Merauke, and Denpasar, and II MMI level in Puncak Jaya.
