Thai Tourist Dies at Komodo Dragon Park

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A tourist from Thailand, Noratep Vanapirome (69), passed away during a hike to the summit of Padar Island at West Nusa Tenggara's National Komodo Park Local authorities said that based Mr. Vanapirome died from a cardiac arrest.
"His body is now at the Marombok Regional General Hospital in Labuan Bajo," said Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority director Shana Fatina said.
Shana said that the tour group that Vanapirome was part of will continue their journey. According to reports, the group had reached Bali yesterday and would continue the trip to Sumba.
Vanapirome's body will be flown to his home country today. The family, assisted by the travel agent, will come to take care of the return of Vanapirome's body.
According to Shana, the Indonesian Tourism Ministry is ready to coordinate with relevant parties for flying Mr. Vanapirome home. "They will also contact the Thai Embassy," he said.
