Malindo Air B737 Veers off Runway at Bandung Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Malindo Air aircraft with flight number OD-301 skidded off the runway during a turn just before taking off. The incident happened at 14:25 local time at Husein Sastranegara International Airport (BDO) in Bandung. The Boeing 737-800NG plane was about to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
The airline's public relations and communications officer, Andrea Liong, said that all passengers and crew were safe. There were 114 passengers and eight crew members.
"All passengers and crew are safe and have been evacuated safely," he said in a press release, Thursday, June 20.
Malindo Air is a joint venture airline between Malaysia National Aerospace and Defense Industries (NADI) and Lion Air from Indonesia.
Andrea delivered the company's apology for the inconvenience caused. They also reiterate that Malindo Air prioritizes safety above others.
