Businesses Install Rooftop Solar Panel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 14 Indonesian businesses supported the one million rooftop solar power panels initiative by installing rooftop solar panels (PLTS) facilitated by Xurya, a local startup providing rooftop solar panel construction.
"We support the commercial sector to utilize solar power as long-term savings in energy cost," said Chief of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI) Andhika Prastawa in a discussion on the benefits of solar panels on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
The 14 businesses are Bike Living, PT Bukit Jaya Semesta, Ciputra World 2 Jakarta, Dermaster, Grand Hyatt, PT Himawan Putra, Indonesia Utama Mineral, PT Mandala Multinvest Capital, PT Mega Manunggal Property TBK, PT Monde Mahkota Biskuit, PT Mulia Bosco Sejahtera, Plaza Indonesia Realty Tbk, Tokopedia, and Wisma 77.
The use of rooftop solar power system would potentially reduce carbon emissions. According to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Data in 2016, industry and commercial sector produced 36 percent of the total carbon emissions.
Moreover, Xurya Founder Eka Himawan said that businesses and industry could save up to 30 percent by using the rooftop solar panels. "We invite industry and commercial sector to start using rooftop PLTS," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Tokopedia Vice President of Corporate Communications Nuraini Razak said that her company hoped the installation of rooftop solar panels can support the development and implementation of renewable energy in Indonesia and the national initiative of one million rooftop solar panels.
