TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan clarified that the issuance of building permits (IMB) for the reclaimed islet D – currently known as Pantai Maju – only affects five percent of the entire building permits in one of the Jakarta Bay reclamation project.
“95 percent still remains in the reclamation area that has yet been used. That is what we will restructure to make it as what we envisioned and provide the utmost benefits for members of the public,” said Anies Baswedan in a press release on Wednesday, June 19.

The governor further explained that the remaining area on the reclamation island that has yet been used will see jogging routes, bicycle parks, and exercise centers built over it. He also announced that there will be a harbor built there even though he maintained that the five percent of building structures will not be dismantled.
The reason why the buildings will be preserved, said Anies, is that the developers have paid the fine imposed by the court in order to legalize the buildings. Which is why the IMB had to be issued for the sets of buildings.
“The buildings were not demolished because it is the consequence of adhering to existing laws. Implementing the principle of good governance,” said Governor Anies Baswedan.
