TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Grab Indonesia has started to charge additional fees for customers that cancel an order as of Monday, June 17. However, this policy is still under its test period for the next whole month in Lampung City and Palembang.
“We chose Lampung and Palembang as a pilot project considering that the two are not major cities like Jakarta, but they are also not deserted areas. There is an element of tourism there,” said Grab Indonesia President Ridzki Kramadibrata at Hotel Grand Hyatt in Central Jakarta yesterday.
However, Ridzki asserts that the cancelation fee will not only apply for customers but also Grab drivers in the form of a penalty.

Further into the details, the cancelation fee for customers will only be applied for those who cancel their order 5 minutes after ordering. This fee will not apply for those who cancel an order within the 5-minute window.
The fine varies from Rp1,000 for canceling a Grabbike order while canceling a Grabcar order will cost customers Rp3,000. This fee is deemed by the company as a compensation fee for the drivers.
Grab users with e-money OVO will have their credit automatically cut while for those paying with cash will have it the cancelation fee charged in their next order.
