Boat Sinking in East Nusa Tenggara Claims Two Lives

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A motor vessel, KM Kenari II, with 30 people - including the ship's crews - on board, sank in the water of Mageta Cape, Alor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday, June 15, claiming two passengers' lives.
"SAR team from Alor has arrived at the location; two people died, according to the report," said chief of Indonesian Sea and Coast Guard Ahmad Husein Amhumdor to Tempo in a short message Saturday, June 15.
He added that eight passengers are still missing while the other 20 passengers survived and have been evacuated.
The incident occurred at 8 a.m. Central Indonesia Time. The vessel, departed from Kalabahi Port at 2:30 and heading to Pureman Port, sank in the middle of the journey.
The cause of the boat's sinking is still unknown. The team is currently searching for the missing passengers.
