According to Prabowo's campaign team spokesman Andre Rosiade, the cancellation had just been decided in a recent internal meeting of the campaign team.
"After it was discussed in a meeting, it was decided that Pak Prabowo and Sandiaga will not attend the trial," said Andre on Thursday, June 13, 2019.
Andre said that the decsion was made to prevent Prabowo's supporters from attending the trial on a large scale.
"If both of them appear together, it's feared that supporters will be present even though [Prabowo] has called for them not to [appear at the Constitutional Court]," said the Great Indonesian Movement (Gerindra) Party politician.
During the upcoming trial, Andre said that BPN's lawsuit will be read by Prabowo and Sandiaga's attorney Bambang Widjojanto, who will present their case in court together with fourteen other members of the team.
Advocates and attorney members representing Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno consist of Bambang Widjojanto, Denny Indrayana, Teuku Nasrullah, Iwan Satriawan, Iskandar Sonhadji, Luthfi Yazid, Dorel Almir, and Zulfadli.
