TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police's criminal investigation unit (Bareskrim) rejects the report filed by the former commander of Indonesian Military (TNI) special elite force (Kopassus) "Tim Mawar" (rose team), Maj. Gen. (ret) Chairawan Nusyirwan, on Tempo Magazine on June 10.

"We have been discussing and consulting inside, and thank God our report has not been accepted, because they are waiting for recommendations from the Press Council," Chairawan's attorney, Hendriansyah, said at the Bareskrim Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 12.

Based on the reason, his client will wait for the process that is followed by the Press Council, after submitting a complaint on Tuesday to draw up a plan to be taken next.

The Press Council plans to call Chairawan and Tempo Magazine officials on Tuesday, June 11, for examination and clarification from both parties.

According to the Press Law, the punishment given to the media if its journalistic product has been proven to violate the code of ethics is ethical sanctions, not criminal, as Chairawan asked for.

Besides, Chairawan plans to report on a number of social media accounts that accused him of being involved in the riots on May 22.

"We are still looking for more evidence," Hendriansyah said.

Chairawan also said that he objected to the mention of the Tim Mawar by Tempo Magazine, even though the perpetrators allegedly involved in the riots on May 22 were only individuals. Therefore, he feels he has been treated improperly as a former commander of the Rose Team.
