TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that a meeting between incumbent presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and opposition's Prabowo Subianto will be much more viable to be held after a verdict is made by the Constitutional Court.
“I believe that both sides would accept whatever verdict the Constitutional Court produces. Now once it is done, the reconciliation will be much easier. I am positive that the reconciliation will take place,” said Jusuf Kalla at the Vice Presidential office in Jakarta today, June 11.
He argued that Jokowi and Prabowo could actually hold the meeting any time and that Prabowo was willing to take the presidential election results to the court, which the VP deemed a democratic and constitutional solution.
“Yes, we’ll just have to wait for the Constitutional Court’s verdict,” he said.
The challenger in the 2019 presidential election, Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno filed a report to the Constitutional Court after the General Elections Commission (KPU) announced the final vote count that favored incumbent presidential candidate Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin.
The Prabowo – Sandiaga Uno campaign team has handed over pieces of evidence on May 24, 2019, which will be further verified by the court before undergoing extensive court sessions for a maximum of 14-days as mandated by the law.
