TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The retired Metro Jaya Police chief Comr. Gen. M. Sofyan Jacob has been named as a suspect for alleged treason together with Prabowo Subianto’s campaign team (BPN) spokesman Eggi Sudjana.
Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono has confirmed the news.
“He has been named as a suspect. The case was handed over from the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim),” said Argo on Monday, June 10.
Argo, however, stopped short of detailing the case further, including on when Sofyan was named suspect and who filed the police report.

Sofyan was initially scheduled to undergo police questioning today at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters at 10:00 a.m., which was canceled due to health issues.
“The questioning was postponed,” said Argo.
Sofyan’s lawyer Ahmad Yani said that his client was willing to be questioned by the police in another questioning session next week. He also confirmed that his client had been officially named as a suspect in a treason case, and that the person reporting his client was the same person who reported Eggi Sudjana to the police.
