  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaToll road operator company PT Jasa Marga, predicted that the homecoming return trip flow on Cikampek Utama toll gate will start today, June 7, 2019. As many as 62,379 vehicles are predicted to return to Jakarta on the first day of the return trip.

"The number is 288.7 percent higher compared to normal daily traffic of 23,153 vehicles," according to Head of Corporate Communication Department of Jasa Marga Irra Susianto in a written statement.

Irra said that traffic engineering in the form of one way lane will continue to be applied in accordance with Police discretion. The one way flow will be applied starting from the Kaliurang toll gate up until Cikampek Utama toll gate "in consideration of the latest condition in the field."

In relation to the homecoming trip, Irra said that during Eid Al-Fitr day on June 5, 2019, as many as 140,672 vehicles were recorded passing through the Cikampek Utama toll gate. The number was 203.79 percent higher compared to the daily traffic volume of 46,306 vehicles.

Meanwhile, on June 6, 2019, as many as 140,672 vehicles were recorded passing through the Cikampek Utama toll gate. The number was 288.7 percent higher compared to the daily traffic volume of 23,153 vehicles.

Previously, Chief of the Indonesian National Police Gen. Tito Karnavian had informed that the peak of the homecoming return trip will occur on June 8 and June 9, 2019. He also urged the public not to return to Jakarta simultaneously on the above dates to prevent traffic jams.

Tito suggested the public to return on Friday, June 7, 2019. "Or if you have taken leave, just extend until Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday [next week]," he said on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Tito explained that the return trip will have higher potential of traffic jams because during the homecoming trip, people can choose when they will leave. Meanwhile, for the return trip, their time is limited to Friday, June 7, until Sunday, June 9.
