Fire Breaks in Aceh Prison

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Blang Paseh Penitentiary, a II-B class prison in Aceh's Pidie regency, caught fire at noon, Monday, June 3. Preliminary investigations suggested that the fire resulted from short-circuit.
Local firefighters have dispatched at least three fire trucks to put out the fire and handle the situation.

Presently, firefighters are still battling with the flames from inside the prison. According to Antara at the time of their news reporting, no evacuation efforts had been made so far.
Antara reported that the prison's main office was engulfed in flames at around 11:30 local time. According to witnesses' testimonies, the fire first broke in one of the employees' rooms.

"Please be patient, we are very busy right now," Aceh Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andy Nugraha Setiawan Siregar said when asked for a statement.
