TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the official launch of the Jakarta Light Rail Transit or LRT is pushed back again. The initial plans to open the LRT before Eid had to be cancelled due to administrative problems.

"According to the Transportation Department and PT Jakpro, the LRT's administrative issues can be resolved before the year-end," Anies said in Jakarta on Monday, June 3.

The governor had wanted the LRT to open for the public before Eid, which is early this month. However, there are several administrative requirements that the LRT does not have yet—including technical recommendations from the Jakarta Transportation Office.

There are also other documents that have not been acquired, including a letter of assignment from PT Jakpro, and the building permit (IMB) for the LRT stations, among others.

Once all the licenses are obtained, PT LRT Jakarta would need to sign an agreement with the Jakarta provincial government.

"These aspects seem insignificant, but they have consequences to orderliness," Anies said.
