Jokowi Hopes Eid Will Cement National Unity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to all Muslims in the nation and hoped the holidays could become a momentum to cement the spirit of unity and relationships.
“Happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1440 Hijriah, I would like to ask for your forgiveness physically and emotionally. Let us use the Eid al-Fitr as a momentum to strengthen our unity and relationships as a nation,” he said in a release dated Monday, June 3, 2019.
“With the spirit of Eid, let us build a better, more prosperous and more developed country,” he added.

Jokowi also appealed to residents returning to their hometowns to exercise caution and prayed for their safety during their journeys.
“Safe trips for all Eid travelers. May you all arrive at your destinations safely and enjoy time with your families,” Jokowi said.
