PDIP Provides Free Homecoming for 11,000 Passengers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Central Executive Board has provided free homecoming trip for 11,000 homecomers heading to Sumatera and Java.

"The PDIP office has become a makeshift terminal for Eid homecomers," said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanyo on Sunday, June 2, 2019.

Hasto said that the homecomers will be travelling free of charge. "They only register by presenting their identification card and family card," Hasto said.

Hasto added anyone who wanted to do their homecoming trip can register to PDIP to be provided with free transportation. However, the registration will only be available for two days.

"The applicants reached up to 12,000, around 1,200 of them were using trains," he added.

Hasto asserted that the free homecoming facility has become one of the party's annual agenda since 2003.

Chief of the PDIP Central Executive Board Secretariat Irvansyah, said that the roads Lenteng Agung road heading to Jakarta had need to be closed for a moment after the people registering for the homecoming peaked. After most of the homecomers enter the bus, the road was re-opened.
