Soekarno-Hatta Airport Launches Electric Scooter Service

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has officially launched electric scooter service dubbed GrabWheels at its Terminal 3 during the 2019 Eid homecoming moment.
"The release of GrabWheels is also to support the 2019 Eid transportation period at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, especially Terminal 3," said Angkasa Pura II CEO Muhammad Awaluddin, during the launching of GrabWheels, Firday, May 31.
Awaluddin said GrabWheels adds to the options of short-distance transportation at the Terminal 3. It also emphasizes the Terminal 3's function as the first digital airport in Indonesia.
“App-based electric scooter has become a lifestyle and trending in big cities in America, Europe, and Singapore,” he said.
Terminal 3, Awaluddin explained, is the biggest airline passenger terminal in Indonesia, measuring 422,000 square meters. Personal transportation unit like GrabWheels does help the mobility of passengers at Terminal 3.
The Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport will provide 8 square meter parking lots, enough for 10 units of GrabWheels. Travelers may ride the GrabWheels from the parking area and return it at the other parking spot. The maximum speed of GrabWheels reaches 10 km/jam for safety reason.
In its inauguration, there are 20 units of GrabWheels at the domestic arrival gate. The personal mobility device will later be available at the departure and arrival gates of International and Domestic flights of Terminal 3.
The GrabWheels will be free of charge until June 2019. After the period ended, the users will be charged for Rp5.000/30 minutes which could be paid through Grab application to get the QR Code.
