TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Singapore Government extends its condolences for the passing of wife of the sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Ani Yudhoyono, 66, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a press statement on June 1.

"The Singapore Government extends its deepest condolences to Bapak Yudhoyono and family, and to the people of Indonesia, in this time of mourning," said MFA, as quoted by Channel News Asia.

The former First Lady was diagnosed with blood cancer and had been treated at the National University Hospital, Singapore, since February 2019. SBY accompanied his wife since she was first treated and announcing Ani's condition to the press.

Her condition previously showed improvement before dropped again on Wednesday, May 29. She was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the National University Hospital.

The Singapore Embassy in Jakarta also extends its condolences to President SB‍‍‍‍Y and the family for the passing of Ani Yudhoyono.

"Just like the orchid Dendrobium Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ‘Ani’, which was named after her in 2005, Ibu Ani was always the picture of grace, dignity and strength. She was a dear friend to Singapore, and will be remembered fondly," said Singapore Embassy through its official Facebook page.
