Homecoming Flow at Port Merak Predicted to Peak Tonight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The surge of homecoming flow at the Port of Merak is predicted to peak tonight, June 1. The travelers include pedestrian, two-wheeled vehicle, and four-wheeled vehicle.
"Since D-7 of Eid, the number of homecoming travelers heading to Sumatra increases and it is predicted that tonight is the peak," said the general manager of Indonesian Ferry ASDP Merak chapter, Solikin, on Saturday, June 1.
According to Solikin, ASDP recorded that some 50,000 travelers left for Sumatra through Merak Port. The number of pedestrian homecomers is 7,626, while those in the vehicles are 44,502 people.
“There are 2,751 motorcycles, 5,632 cars, 426 buses, and 420 trucks. So the total is 9,229 vehicles,” Solikin said.
He said that ASDP had set 40 Roro ships to serve the travelers with a total of 119 trips. "The number of fleet and trip will be adjusted with the number of the passenger."
Solikin went on to say that ASDP would offer its best service to the travelers of 2019 Eid homecoming. “We've coordinated with related parties to conduct anticipatory steps for Eid transportation," he remarked.
