Transjakarta Suffers IDR 8 Billion Losses Following May 22 Riot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of PT Transportasi Jakarta Agung Wicaksana, said that the company will potentially lost IDR 8 billion in revenue following the May 22 riot. Agung said that the number of Transjakarta buses was decreasing during the May 21 to May 24 periods.
"Around IDR 8 billion is our potential revenue losses because of the passenger decrease," Agung said during a press conference on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
He asserted that the riot affects the Transjakarta operational activities. "The riots in the center of the capital had affected us," he added.
He explained that the number of transjakarta can reach up to 800,000 passengers everyday. However, on May 21, 2019, the number decreased to 720,000 passengers.
The number continues to decrease to 524,554 passengers on May 22. On May 23, the number of passengers increased to 618,062, and further increase to 681,554 on May 24. "On May 27, the number of passengers had returned to normal," Agung claimed.
In addition, PT Transjakarta also recorded IDR 3.2 million losses for the damaged transjakarta shelters.
