Presidential Security for Jokowi Beefed Up, Says Moeldoko

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said that the security for President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has been tightened following the discovery of an assassination attempt of four state officials during the May 22 riot.
"Of course, [the security for President] is enhanced. We cannot neglect it," said Moeldoko at Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
The former Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander explained that the security standard for the president could not be dropped with or without the murder threat. "That's normal for all of us to concern about this situation following a threat," he added.
According to Moeldoko, Jokowi would not be beset by the security condition following the recapitulation of the 2019 general elections. The President would maintain his routine work visits to many regions. "He isn't bothered. Perhaps, after the Eid Al-Fitr, he'll have more working visits," Moeldoko said.
Chief of the National Police Gen. Tito Karnavian, recently discovvered that four state officials have become targets of assassin group. The four officials are Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto; Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan" National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Budi Gunawan; and Presidential Special Staff for Intelligence and Security Gories Mere.
The assassination plot was revealed during interrogation to the suspects who reportedly infiltrated the May 22 rally to execute their mission. The police had arrested the leader HK and all five members of the group, namely IR, TJ, AZ, AD, and AF.
