TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police named 442 suspects who were responsible for the May 22 riots that broke out in Central Jakarta.
“We detained them at the Metro Jaya Police and West Jakarta Police headquarters,” said National Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo at the Coordinating Ministry of Politics, Law, and Security Affairs on Tuesday.

Moreover, police also revealed the three groups that used the riots for their advantage. Police are currently investigating the link between the rioters and these hardline groups.
Head of National Police Public Relations Insp. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal explained that the three groups are tied to terrorist groups and weapons smuggling syndicates from Aceh. Their latest plan foiled by police was the assassination on four national figures.
However, Iqbal stressed that these three groups differ from those who went to the streets. “These groups intended to attack authority figures,” he explained. Police are hunting down the mastermind behind the group.
