TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II predicts that the peak Eid homecoming, or mudik, migration at the Soekarno Hatta Airport will fall on May 31 and June 1, 2019.
Angkasa Pura II President Muhammad Awaluddin predicts that commercial airplane traffic in this year’s Eid mass-exodus will increase by 1.5 to 2 percent.
“It will take place five days heading toward the Eid homecoming,” said Awaluddin in a preparation event held at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s outdoor field today.

In terms of passenger traffic, Awaluddin predicts it will grow 3.2 to 3.5 percent considering the airport experienced increased passenger traffic during the past two days compared to usual days.
The Soekarno-Hatta Airport, said Awaluddin, is ready to serve passengers in the 2019 mudik. Meanwhile, security forces securing the airport will consist of 3,000 joint personnel from the Indonesian Army, Police forces, and airport security personnel.
