TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jl. Wahid Hasyim in Central Jakarta has been reopened for the public today, May 27, after previously being blocked with police barricades following the May 21-22 riots. The road is the only access to the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) office on Jl. M.H. Thamrin, where the rally-turned-riot erupted.
“Traffic flow from Jl. Fachrudin heading to Wahid Hasyim is directed straight to Jl. K.H. Mas Mansyur,” said Jakarta Traffic Police's head of Law Enforcement Sub-directorate, Comr. M. Nasir, in a written statement, Monday, May 27.

However, access to the front gate of the Bawaslu office from Jl. M.H. Thamrin remained closed. Two-tiered cement blocks, barbed wires, and separators were still in place. Tempo observed several members of the police's mobile brigade (Brimob) corps remained on guard in front of the Bawaslu building, as well a water cannon vehicle.
Meanwhile, Plaza Sarinah that is located adjacent to the Bawaslu building has resumed operations. Roti O and Caribou Coffe have served visitors yet McDonald’s is still closed. Buildings across the Bawaslu building, such as Skyline Building, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Burger King, have also resumed activities.
