Fraudulent Elections Evidence List Collected by People: Sandiaga

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice Presidential candidate number 02 Sandiaga Uno said 51 lists of evidence detailing alleged fraud during the recent presidential elections were submitted by his team of lawyers to the Constitutional Court (MK) on Friday evening.

The contributors of these lists of evidence were individuals within communities who participated in supervising the recent parliamentary and presidential elections, he said here on Saturday.

Speaking to journalists after attending an entrepreneurship event at Palapa Baitus Salam Grand Mosque, Uno said voting anomalies were found in many polling stations.

In responding to the submissions of these lists of evidence, the Constitutional Court's panel of judges were expected to examine them objectively, so they would bring a sense of justice and truth to the people, Uno said.

On Friday evening, the lawyer team for the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair's National Winning Body filed a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court over the disputed election results.

The lawsuit that was filed at the Constitutional Court was an expression of concern over the fact that the recent elections had been held unfairly and honestly. In fact, the democratic elections had even claimed the lives of many polling station workers.

"So this is the demand of our community members. We remain with the people. Like Mr.Prabowo has said, we emerge and get drowned with the people," he said, adding that filing the lawsuit at MK was not a matter of winning or losing the elections.

Instead, the Prabowo-Sandi pair's goal in filing this lawsuit was to improve the holding of democratic elections in Indonesia, Uno said.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) had earlier announced the final results of the recent parliamentary and presidential elections, detailing the victory of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin pair on early Tuesday (May 21).

The final tally that the KPU announced at around 1:28 a.m. indicated the Jokowi- Amin pair had secured 85 million votes, or 55.5 percent of the national vote, as compared to contenders Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno's 68 million votes, or 44.5 percent.

The Jokowi-Amin pair had declared victory, while the Prabowo-Sandi pair rejected the KPU's official tabulation result and vowed to challenge it at the Constitutional Court.

This unfinished political process sparked a mass protest from the Prabowo-Sandi pair's supporters, who alleged massive fraud in voting during the presidential elections.

Tensions rose and led to a riot in the Tanah Abang area of Central Jakarta, lasting from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.

The post-election riot claimed eight lives and 541 injuries, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said.
