TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jalan Thamrin in Central Jakarta is still closed on both lanes until Saturday noon, May 25. The separator barricades and barbed wires seemed to stay in front of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) building.

"We're waiting for instruction from the Police. Hopefully [it can be done] soon," said acting chief of Jakarta Transportation Department Sigit Wijatmoko to Tempo.

In addition, police posts and police trucks are still set in front of Bawaslu building. A number of Mobile Police Brigade (Brimob) personnel in black uniform also seemed to stand guard the location.

At Jalan Wahid Hasyim next to Sarinah mall, TNI's Navy personnel are also set in the location.

Several places such as Holiday in Express Ariotel and Pardon My France restaurant at Jalan Wahid Hasyim heading to Tanah Abang have been opened for public even though the two places are fenced off by barbed wire. Meanwhile, Sarinah and Jakarta Theater malls are still closed for public.

The road closure at Jalan Thamrin was done after the clash broke between the protesters and police officers on May 22-23. The clash turned into anarchist and vandalism acts public facilities in several locations.

Jalan Gatot Subroto in front of the parliamentary building, South Jakarta, is also closed for public for the past few days. But for today, Sigit said that the road will soon be opened.
