TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City wholesale market Metro Tanah Abang and Metro Bridge have started its full operation today, Saturday, May 25, 2019.
"We're going to operate full day today," said Metro Tanah Abang general affair Arif Budi in Central Jakarta on Saturday morning, May 24, saying that sellers and buyers had been coming to the wholesale market since 5 a.m.
Metro Tanah Abang and Metro Bridge in front of Blok A market regularly operate from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
After the May 22 riot, the biggest wholesale market in Southeast Asia closed for two days. The textiles market opened half day on Friday, May 24, until 1 p.m. to anticipate a possible follow-up riot considering the mass protesting the election result still heading to Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) headquarters.

Sellers and buyers relieved since the activity at Tanah Abang has returned to normal and hope that trading activity ahead of Eid al-Fitr could increase as previous years.
Meanwhile, Tanah Abang's Blok A market also planned to operate full-day today until 17:00. The market will open until May 4, or a day before the Eid day.
