TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Securities Companies Association (APEI) said that the protest-turned-riot on May 22 had not affected investors in the capital market. On Thursday, May 23, investors still traded in the stock market.

"The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) on Thursday managed to gain. Which means that investors were confident. Yesterday's demonstration did not affect investors to enter the market today," APEI chairman Rudy Utomo told Antara in Jakarta, Thursday, May 23.

According to Rudy, the domestic political issues have little impact after the Elections Commission (KPU) announced the final tally of votes for the 2019 Presidential Election.

"The results of the presidential election are clear, the vote difference is also quite large, meaning that the result of the presidential election is 'firm'. Moreover, Jokowi has received congratulations from leaders of the world," he said.

Nevertheless, he continued, some investors who had been waiting would probably remain unaggressive in spending money in Indonesia's capital market, as they will continue observing the situation now that Prabowo has filed a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court.

On Thursday, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed up 1.56 percent to 6,032.69. The LQ45 index moved up 2.41 percent to 943.95.
