Jokowi to Meet B.J. Habibie Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi reportedly will have a meeting with the third Indonesian President B.J. Habibie in Merdeka State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, May 24. Habibie’s secretary Rubijanto confirmed the agenda.
“Yes, as invited by President of Indonesia,” Rubijanto told Tempo.
Rubijanto said that he did not aware of what the two figures would discuss in the meeting scheduled to take place at 14:00 Jakarta time.
After the announcement of the 2019 elections result, the President welcomed a number of national figures, from state executives to former presidents, in the palace including the fifth Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri and former deputy president Try Sutrisno.
Jokowi and Habibie’s latest meeting occurred in August 2018 when the latter was treated in Gatot Subroto Hospital. He also held a video conference with Habibie who was undergoing medical treatment in Germany in January 2019.
Recently, Habibie delivered national message related to the elections result through a video published by The Habibie Center. Habibie suggested that the dissatisfaction over the outcome could be resolved through a constitutional way.
