Roads in Jakarta Still Closed despite Riot Subsides

23 May 2019 13:28 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several roads in Central Jakarta are still closed despite the May 22 riot gradually subsides. Therefore, the city’s Transportation Agency and the police apply traffic engineering.

As quoted from the Twitter account of the Agency at @atcs_jakarta and Metro Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) at @TMCPoldametro, here is the list of closed roads today, May 23.

1. Sarinah intersection

Jalan Wahid Hasyim and Jalan Sabang heading to Sarinah intersection are still closed. So vehicles heading to HI Roundabout (Bundaran HI) are suggested to pass Tugu Tani.

2. Harmoni intersection

Traffic from and to Harmoni intersection from the north route is diverted to the west, particularly to Jalan Juanda as Jalan Majapahit in front of Indonesia State Secretariat office is still blocked.

3. HI Roundabout (Bundaran HI)

No vehicle is allowed to pass Jalan Bundaran HI until Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. Police implemented road diversion.

4. Jalan Imam Bonjol and Jalan M.H. Thamrin

Roads before the Election Commission (KPU)’s office or Jalan Imam Bonjol and Election Supervisory Board’s (Bawaslu) office or Jalan M.H. Thamrin are still closed today, May 23, following the riot on May 22 protesting the 2019 election results.
