Jusuf Kall Calls for Prabowo, Sandiaga to Help Cool the Situation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla called for everyone to help cool down the tense political situation following the announcement of the presidential election result. He maintained that the peacekeeping role should also be acted by candidates from the opposition, Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno.
“For sure we expect the same that all of the country’s leaders, including Pak Prabowo and Pak Sandi, to help calm the public,” said Jusuf Kalla at his office on Wednesday, May 22.
According to the vice president, the government is willing to host dialogues with stakeholders to cool down the current heated situation.
Jusuf Kalla revealed that he is currently attempting to host a meeting between Indonesian political elites and is constantly trying to reach Prabowo. “Yes, we are trying to reach Prabowo, we also are trying to reach many more figures,” Kalla said.
The VP reminded that the general public should be able to preserve the current security condition and not be easily provoked.
“We would all feel the loss and our economy as a whole. Society will also be affected. Remember when the 1998 crisis happened and everyone felt the effects of riots such as these,” said Jusuf Kalla.
