TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Presidential chief of staff Moeldoko said that there are certain groups that intend to spark riots following the 2019 general elections final vote count. However, he maintains that today’s May 22 riot is not aided by the Prabowo Subianto – Sandaiga Uno campaign team (BPN).
“This is clearly an attempt to entice a riot. The 02 (Prabowo camp) chose to file their lawsuit via Constitutional Court, but there are other groups that want to create havoc,” said Moeldoko on Wednesday, May 22.
This way, Moeldoko says that BPN’s choice marks that the political approach is over. However, he believes that there has been a rising attempt to disturb national security and thinks that there are people who will use the opportunity.
He backs his assumption by taking the example of the riot at the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) housing complex in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. Moeldoko deems that this shows a level of involvement of people not affiliated to the Prabowo camp.
“That is why, this has gone from being a political format, or democratic festivity, which ends at the Constitutional Court (MK), not at the streets. This means that plans were set prior to the incident,” said Moeldoko.
He then urged the general society to wisely respond to the rising situation at the May 22 rally.
