Prabowo Camp Requests Detention Suspension for Eggi, Lieus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesman for the national campaign of Prabowo - Sandiaga, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, said that his party will provide legal assistance for campaigners Eggi Sudjana and Lieus Sungkharisma in relation to their arrest under alleged treason charges in Jakarta Metro Police.
According to Dahnil, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and several retired generals of Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police will file the suspension of detention request for Lieus and Eggi.
“After his visit, the campaign team and several figures will send a request letter for Bang Eggi and Pak Lieus,” said Dahnil in Jakarta Metro Police, Monday evening, May 20.
Dahnil made the statement while accompanying the Gerindra chief patron and a number of figures including the House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Fadli Zon, head of Berkarya Party advisory board Siti Hediati Hariyadi or better known Titiek Soeharto, National Mandate Party (PAN) honorary chairman Amien Rais visited Eggi and Lieus who were detained in the police headquarter.

However, Jakarta Police detention and evidence center chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Barnabas did not allow Prabowo and the entourage to meet his campaigners due to the end of visiting hours. Prabowo willingly accepted the reason.
“Yes, the SOP (standard operating procedure) has a certain leeway that we can give a reason for humanitarian consideration. But we respect their authority. We respect them,” Prabowo remarked.
Police have arrested Eggi Sudjana after examination on the latter as a suspect since Monday, May 13. The PAN politician who was also activist from the PA 212 was named treason suspect for calling for the people to hit the street or people power against the 2019 general elections result.
Meanwhile, Lieus was arrested in his apartment in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, on Monday, May 20, under alleged hoax spread and treason charges.
