Jakarta Calls Hospitals Readiness for May 22

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Health Agency instructed all hospitals in the capital city to prepare in treating patients starting on May 21 prior to the announcement of the 2019 general elections results by the Election Commission (KPU).

As quoted from a circular letter issued by the agency on May 17, all hospitals in the province are expected to set up themselves to serve patients related to the action.

The agency deputy head Khafifah Any affirmed the letter. “Yes, that’s true,” she said on a phone call with Tempo on Monday, May 20.

The letter noted the financing scheme for patients possessing the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan). If a patient does not own one, the Health Agency will cover the treatment cost. So hospitals treating referral patients are expected to submit a report, both online and manual.

The KPU earlier assured the announcement of the election result will still be held on schedule on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. The commission’s head Arief Budiman said the vote recapitulation in 30 provinces had been completed, leaving the four others, viz. Maluku, Papua, Riau, and North Sumatra.

The government is anticipating the security to deal with the demonstration staged by Prabowo's supporters who against the KPU. The mass reportedly will come from various regions. Regional police are also on standby to monitor people movement.
