TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chairman of the National Mandate Party’s (PAN) advisory board, Amien Rais, said he was not perturbed by pressure from multiple parties demanding the halt of the people power movement.
Amien was adamant the people power movement was the best way to protest against the final results of the 2019 elections, which he viewed as fraudulent.
“This game is not over yet. Don’t frighten us with rifles, with cannons, panzers and whatnot. They are nothing and they will not affect our power,” he said at the People’s Struggle House on Jl. Proklamasi, Central Jakarta, Friday, May 17, 2019.

Amien also said there was a certain minister in Jokowi’s cabinet who gathered legal experts so as to solicit their advice on some particular legal cases. Amien said he could not remember the minister’s name, but claimed the minister was implicated in an ongoing human rights case.
“Don’t mess with us, Mr. Minister. We will bring [the human rights case] to the ICT, the International Court of Justice. So don’t mess with the people,” Amien Rais said.
It was later reported that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, had formed a Legal Assistance Team tasked to render input to law enforcement officials in dealing with some cases.
