BNI Predicts Ramadan Cash Demand will Increase by 5 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) assured that customers’ increasing demand for cash during the Ramadan holidays will be fulfilled.
BNI information technology and operations director Dadang Setiabudi says the bank predicts that customers’ money needs in Ramadan and Eid al Fitr will reach an average of Rp14.3 trillion each week.
“That value increased by 5 percent compared to the 2018 realization. BNI confirms that the weekly need is fulfilled,” said Dadang on Wednesday, May 15.

Moreover, 60 percent of the aforementioned value is allocated for ATM users and 40 percent for BNI outlets. He also predicts the peak need for cash will happen in the fourth week of Ramadan on May 27 up to June 2, 2019, when BNI customers’ needs reach a value of 21.6 trillion.
As of the number of transactions go, BNI predicts this year’s Ramadan will see in increase up to 35 million transactions compared to that of last year that saw 25 million transactions.
They also activated 79-weekend banking outlets and continue to run 27 of those outlets two days after the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
