TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Democrat Party Deputy Secretary General Andi Arief suspects that presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto intends to boycott the presidential election’s vote recapitulation result rather than the general elections.
“After that, there will be a problem in the elected president’s legitimacy. Because boycotts can lead to civil disobedience,” said Andi Arief in a text message on Wednesday, May 15.

He further argues that a boycott is a peaceful alternative rather than the use of violence or mass mobilization. Andi maintains that these ways have been adopted by countries that face troubled elections.
“There are frictions, but I think Pak Prabowo is wise enough to take this route,” said Andi.
In a previous report, Prabowo Subianto declared he will reject the outcome of the upcoming vote count results. “My stand is to reject the foul general elections result,” said Prabowo at the event held in Grand Sahid Hotel in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.
